Since 1981, Ben Tyler and his team of experts have designed, built and remodeled numerous award-winning homes in some of the most established neighborhoods in Louisville. The company has recently added a handyman service to their menu of services.

The Challenge:

The company had outgrown their existing telecommunications technology and needed something that could accommodate their growth and expansion of services.

The Solution:

Unified Technologies provided a digital telecommunications platform. The scalable solution could accommodate their existing needs and grow with them.

The End Result:

Ben Tyler has a reliable, new scalable telecommunications platform that provides more features and functionality than their previous technology. The Unified Care coverage gives Ben peace of mind and allows him to concentrate on the task of growing his business.


OPC Pest Control

Louisville, KY

Overview:

OPC Pest Control is the leading provider of pest control services to the Louisville and surrounding area. The company continues to grow and has invested heavily in marketing. IN addition, the company has begun a handyman service and expects considerable growth in that division.

The Challenge:

  • Faced with old technology, OPC needed a way to add direct phone numbers and more lines for their business to grow.
  • Needed a way to track marketing dollars with the ability to understand what works and what doesn't.
  • They needed to improve communications with service personnel in the field.
  • Wanted to better understand their service department in an effort to improve training and staff efficiently.

The Solution:

Unified Technologies provided a ShoreTel pure IP solution including PRI service from the Telco provider, a reporting package and software for the desktop that shows a visual for each customer service representative.

The End Result:

  • OPC can now track their marketing investment by assigning direct dial numbers to certain marketing campaigns.
  • Quadrupled the number of lines into the business to support custom handling of calls to the new handyman division.
  • Calls to the business can be seamlessly transferred to service techs in the field.

Since installing the new technology, OPC has selected Unified Technologies as the infrastructure partner for their new location on Poplar Level Road. This infrastructure solution includes low voltage cabling (Cat5, Cat 5e and coaxial), door access security and security cameras.


Thornton's

Louisville, KY

Overview:

Ranked #250 on Forbes magazine's 500 largest privately held companies, Thornton's is headquartered in Louisville, KY and is Kentucky's second largest privately held company with over 2 billion in annual revenue. Thornton's operates 164 gasoline/convenience stores and distributes petroleum products through their wholly-owned Thornton Transportation Company.

The Challenge:

Thornton's was relocating their current Server Room to a larger space within their building. They were also looking to upgrade their current Voice, Data and Video infrastructure from Category 5 Enhanced to Category 6 cabling with modular capabilities.

The Solution:

Unified Technologies helped Thornton's with the designing of their Server Room by laying out the cabinets and relay racks accordingly to the room size. We also assisted with the Ladder Tray installation and determining the number of rack units required with Thornton's data equipment.

The End Result:

Thornton's now has a complete modular design of their voice, data and video infrastructure with the flexibility to make their own Move, Adds and Changes in house. The cabling system comes with a "lifetime warranty" that provides Thornton's with the peace of mind to know that their infrastructure cabling is worry free for the lifetime that they are in their building.


Georgetown College

Georgetown, KY

Overview:

Georgetown College is a small, residential, co-educational liberal arts college, located in Georgetown, KY, distinguished by a combination of respected, rigorous undergraduate and graduate programs, an array of opportunities for involvement and leadership, a commitment to Christian values and its distinctive heritage. The College provides an environment for intellectual, spiritual and social growth.

The Challenge:

  • 1. Replace old technology
  • 2. Eliminate high maintenance costs
  • 3. Replace equipment no longer being supported by the manufacturer
  • 4. Provide personnel efficiencies for an increasing number of traveling and mobile workforce.
  • 5. Find redundant and resilient solution.
  • 6. Move to a more "paper-less" environment.
  • 7. Find a simpler administration including single image across both campuses and 48 buildings.

The Solution:

We implemented a Shoretel solution including 425 IP phones and 240 analog extensions for the College at the main and east campuses. The solution included a fax server, personnel efficiency tools, reporting, redundancy and resiliency.

The End Result:

The College is deploying the new technology in December 2009. They will provide one 'Unified' number to each of their employees enabling one number unified messaging. Faxes, voicemails and emails will all now be delivered to their Outlook inbox. The de-centralized architecture and the IP nature of the ShoreTel solution allow the College to build a redundant and resilient solution across 2 campuses. The Call Manager software will let faculty and staff customize how they want calls handled. Faculty and staff expect to utilize office anywhere and find me, follow me to accommodate their mobile workforce. UnifiedCare will eliminate additional maintenance costs for the next 5 years.


Phil Brown Insurance

Overview:

Since 1988, Phil Brown Insurance Agency has been providing insurance and employee benefits brokerage services to the business community. Built upon a tradition of integrity, industry leadership, and excellence, we are committed to delivering tailored benefits solutions with thoughtful strategic planning, valuable professional services, and technology-based solutions.

The Challenge:

  • Replace voice mail system that died
  • Invest in new technology
  • Gain new tools to assist personnel
  • Improve disaster response options
  • Find a system that they could administer themselves easily.

The Solution:

The ShoreTel technology solution installed by Unified Technologies gave the company a new voice mail system with 254 ports of automated attendant. The included reporting package with give them the tools needed to staff during peak times. The ShoreTel "Call Manager" software aids the personnel with telephone presence on their desktop. It provides a visual directory, call history and information about the presence of the all employees.

The End Result:

Today, the agency is operating on the new platform and is leveraging the new technology to prepare a disaster response plan. Our financial analysis also allowed them to lower their monthly telco expense and provide a back-up internet connection.


Maximum ASP

Louisville, KY

Overview:

Maximum ASP is a leading provider of web hosting services for customers around the world. When they decided to expand their business and build their own new state-of-the-art data center in Louisville, Kentucky they also wanted to have a state-of-the-art communications system to service their clients on a 24/7 basis.

The Challenge:

  • 24 hour support desk in the data center needs to be connected to a second location that houses all of the corporate support personnel.
  • Current platform is very difficult to administer and has no web based administration capabilities. Easy administration is needed to make changes very quickly.
  • Support agents need the flexibility to move around the data center and still be able to take support calls.
  • Need some way to understand what is going on in the support group.

The Solution:

The ShoreTel IP platform utilizing office anywhere for the support agents. The web based director software allows Maximum ASP to do all programming and changes through a very simple and intuitive web based programming feature. The workgroup reports that come standard with the platform allowed Maximum ASP to gather the information that they wanted.

The End Result:

Maximum ASP is now positioned to take advantage of the extremely flexible platform as they look for other opportunities to grow their business. The reports will help them understand call flow into the support desk and staff appropriately. Less time will be required to maintain the system since adds, moves and changes can be done from a single site for all locations.


E & H Electric Supply

Louisville, KY

Overview:

E&H Electric is a leading electrical supply company for the Louisville and surrounding markets. E&H Electric has provided customers with automation solutions for more than 60 years. Their customers are OEMs, End Users, Integrators, and Contractors, with a large counter sales for walk-in needs. They support and sell equipment and software to meet all automation and contracting needs.

The Challenge:

Their office space was flooded during the 2009 heavy rain storms, which resulted in catastrophic damage to their office and showroom space.

The Solution:

Our infrastructure division provided a cabling solution, in a timely manner, and minimized downtime during a challenging period.

The End Result:

E&H Electric, located at 804 S. 5th Street in downtown Louisville, has a completely renovated office and showroom.
